Product details
With a 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor operating at 2.4 GHz with an integrated metal heatsink, USB 3 ports, dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless LAN, faster Gigabit Ethernet, and PoE functionality using a separate PoE HAT, the Raspberry Pi 5 is the newest model in the Raspberry Pi line. 4 GB of RAM is included with this edition.
In comparison to the Raspberry Pi 4, the Raspberry Pi 5 offers a 2–3× improvement in CPU speed thanks to its 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor operating at 2.4 GHz. It offers a seamless desktop experience for consumers and opens up new applications for industrial clients, in addition to a significant boost in graphics performance from an 800MHz Video Core VII GPU, dual 4Kp60 display output over HDMI, and cutting-edge camera support from a rearchitected Raspberry Pi Image Signal Processor.
This is the first full-size Raspberry Pi computer to use silicon that was created in-house at Raspberry Pi. The majority of the Raspberry Pi 5’s I/O capabilities are provided by the RP1 “southbridge,” which also offers a step change in peripheral functionality and performance. A new pair of four-lane 1.5 Gbps MIPI transceivers has replaced the older two-lane 1 Gbps MIPI camera and display connections, which means the total data transfer speed has tripled and can now handle up to two cameras or displays at once; the speed for SD cards has also doubled because it now supports the faster SDR104 mode; and for the first time, the total USB data transfer speed has more than doubled, allowing for quicker transfers to external UAS drives and other fast devices. The platform supports high-bandwidth peripherals by exposing a single-lane PCI Express 2.0 interface.
