Product details
SCT-013-030 Non-invasive AC Current Sensor Clamp Sensor 30A is what it is called. A current transformer that may be used to measure AC current up to 100 amperes, the SCT-013-000 is a non-invasive AC current sensor.
You may measure a load up to 30 Amps with this non-invasive AC current sensor clamped around the supply line and determine how much current is flowing through it. It can be helpful if you want to construct your own energy monitor or an AC load over-current prevention device. A current of up to 30A can be detected using this current clamp. It will produce a (very) modest AC voltage proportional to the current if you just clip it around the current source that you desire to measure. The cable has a regular 3.5mm jack (similar to a headphone port) at one end.
Build your own energy monitor using this to control your energy consumption, or use it to provide an over-current safeguard for an AC load. You can find an example project at the link below. The 3.5mm jack’s pinout may be found in the datasheet.
