Product details
Low-power transceivers called MAX485 are used in RS-485 and RS-422 communication. One driver and one receiver are included in the IC. The MAX485’s driver slew rates are unrestricted and can go as high as 2.5Mbps. When unloaded or fully loaded with deactivated drivers, these transceivers consume between 120A and 500A of supply current. A single 5V supply powers every component. Thermal shutdown circuitry that converts the driver outputs into a high-impedance state protects drivers against excessive power dissipation and short-circuit current limiting. If the input is open circuit, the receiver input features a fail-safe mechanism that ensures a logic-high output. Applications for half-duplex are catered for by the MAX485.
